Pantone Matched
USB Drives
Your brand colour, perfectly matched. We mould premium USB drives in any Pantone® colour you need, then print or engrave your logo for a giveaway that stays unmistakably yours. From 50 units, with a free visual proof before production.
Because the colour runs through the moulded shell itself, it cannot chip or peel like a printed finish, and every drive you order is covered by a ten year warranty.

Pantone® Matched USB Drives
Most promotional USB sticks come in a handful of stock shell colours: black, white, red, blue and a few others. That covers plenty of orders, but if your brand guidelines specify PMS 2935 and the nearest stock option is "roughly the right blue", the drives will always look slightly off next to the rest of your merchandise. A Pantone matched USB drive solves this properly: the shell of the drive is moulded in your exact brand colour, from 50 units, with your logo printed on top.
Two Different Things Get Called "Pantone Matching"
It is worth being precise here, because suppliers use the same phrase for two different services and buyers are frequently quoted for one when they meant the other.
The inks used to screen print your logo are mixed to your Pantone references before printing. This is included free on every printed order we supply - it is simply how professional USB logo printing should be done, and if that is all you need, that page covers it.
The body of the USB stick itself is custom moulded in your Pantone colour, rather than selected from stock colours. Pigment is mixed into the plastic before the shell is formed, so the colour runs through the material - it is not painted or coated, and it cannot chip or wear off.
This page is about the second service. It carries a small additional fee, a minimum of 50 units, and an extra two to three days on the lead time, because the shells are made to order rather than pulled from stock. On orders above 500 units, we include shell matching free of charge.
What Is a Pantone Colour?
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is the print and manufacturing industry's standard catalogue of colours, in which every shade carries a unique reference number. Because the reference defines the colour precisely, PMS 212 means exactly the same pink to a printer in Manchester, a fabric mill in Portugal and a plastics factory anywhere in the world. If your company has brand guidelines, your colours are almost certainly already defined this way - it is the same system your printers use for your stationery and your signage, which is precisely why matching your USB drives to it keeps everything consistent.
How Shell Matching Works
Give us your Pantone reference and we custom mould the shells to it. If you do not know your reference, send your logo file instead and our graphics team will identify the closest Pantone colour and confirm it with you before anything is made - our own logo, for example, matches to PMS 212c, and that single code is all the factory needs to reproduce the colour on every shell in the order.
One request from experience: take the reference from your brand guidelines rather than from a colour picked off your website. Screen colours are defined in RGB or hex values, which do not convert precisely to Pantone - the conversion is always an approximation, and your design team will have already made that judgement properly when the guidelines were written. Where no guidelines exist, we will make the call for you and show you the result on a free visual proof before you commit.

Choosing Your Shell and Print Colours Together
The most common mistake with Pantone matched drives is one we now watch for on every order: matching the shell to the main logo colour, then asking for the logo printed in that same colour. The result is a logo you can barely see. A matched shell works best when it carries a contrasting print - most often the logo in white, or in a secondary brand colour that stands out against the body.
On the Twister and Twister Duo, there is a neater trick available because the drive has two parts: the body is Pantone matched to your primary brand colour, and the logo is printed on the metal swivel clip that wraps around it. The two-part construction does the contrast work for you, which is a large part of why the Twister is the most Pantone-matched drive we sell.
If you are unsure what will work, send the logo over. We will set up proofs showing two or three shell-and-print combinations side by side - it takes our studio minutes and settles the question far faster than a meeting about it.
How Accurate Will the Match Be?
Honestly: very close, with two caveats a brand manager should hear before ordering rather than after.
First, coated versus uncoated. Pantone references come in coated (C) and uncoated (U) versions, and most brand guidelines specify the coated reference - PMS 212c rather than 212u. Moulded plastic has its own surface character, closer to a coated finish but not identical to ink on paper, so the drives will sit convincingly alongside your printed material without being molecule-for-molecule identical to it. This is true of Pantone reproduction on any plastic product, from any supplier, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling harder than they are moulding.
Second, some colour families do not translate fully into pigmented plastic. Metallic references (the 871-877 series), fluorescent and neon shades, and some very pale tints rely on ink properties that solid plastic cannot reproduce. We can usually get usefully close, and for genuinely metallic looks a metal-bodied drive with an engraved logo is often the better answer - but we would rather point that out at the quote stage than deliver 2,000 units of disappointment.
Which USB Styles Can Be Pantone Matched?
Shell matching is available on styles where the moulded plastic body dominates the drive's appearance - it is not offered on wooden, leather or metal drives, where the material is the point. The most popular eligible styles are:
- Twister USB (body only) - from 50 units
- Twister Duo USB (body only) - from 50 units
- Dixie USB - from 50 units
- Titan USB - from 50 units
- Flat Pod USB - from 50 units
- USB Wristband - from 50 units
Other styles may be eligible depending on the model and quantity - ask your account manager, who will confirm eligibility before quoting rather than after ordering.

Cost, Minimums and Lead Times
Three numbers cover the practicalities. The minimum order for shell matching is 50 units. The service carries a small additional fee on top of the drive price - quoted as a fixed figure before you order, never a surprise on the invoice - and it is included free on orders above 500 units. And because matched shells are moulded to order, allow an extra two to three days on the standard lead time.
That last point matters for deadlines. Our express USB service works from UK-held stock in standard shell colours, so genuinely urgent jobs and Pantone matched shells do not mix - if your event is days away, the honest advice is stock colours now, matched shells next time. Where the timeline allows both, tell us your delivery date at the quote stage and we will confirm whether matching fits inside it.
When to Go Fully Custom Instead
Shell matching changes the colour of a standard drive. If you want to change the drive itself - a USB stick moulded in the shape of your product, your mascot or your logo - that is our bespoke custom USB process, which builds the drive from scratch in PVC with Pantone matched colours throughout the design. As a rule of thumb: match the shell when brand colour consistency is the goal; go bespoke when the drive is meant to be a talking point in its own right.
Brand Consistency, Handled by People Who Notice
Pantone matched orders tend to come from buyers who care about the details - agencies working to enforced brand guidelines, franchises keeping hundreds of locations consistent, marketing teams matching the drives to lanyards, badges and printed USB packaging for an event. Those are our favourite orders, because the details are checkable: your visual proof states the exact PMS references for the shell and the print, so what you approve is defined by number, not by "looks about right on my monitor".
We have supplied colour-matched drives to UK businesses for over two decades, and every order is handled by a named account manager in our Hertfordshire office. To get a price, request a quick quote and include your Pantone reference if you have it - or attach your logo and we will identify the reference for you, free, whether or not you go on to order.

Frequently Asked Questions
A USB stick whose plastic shell is custom moulded in an exact Pantone (PMS) colour, rather than chosen from standard stock colours. The pigment is mixed into the plastic before moulding, so the colour runs through the material and cannot chip or wear off. The logo is then printed on top, usually in a contrasting colour.
A small fixed fee is added to the order total, confirmed in your quotation before you commit. On orders above 500 units, shell matching is included free of charge. Pantone matching of print inks, as opposed to shells, is free on every printed order.
50 units, on eligible styles including the Twister, Twister Duo, Dixie, Titan, Flat Pod and USB Wristband.
Allow an extra two to three days on the standard lead time, because the shells are moulded to order rather than taken from stock. Pantone matched shells are not available on the express service, which uses UK-held stock in standard colours.
Yes. Send your logo file and our graphics team will identify the closest Pantone reference and confirm it with you on a free visual proof before anything is manufactured. If your company has brand guidelines, the reference in the guidelines is the better starting point, as it was chosen by your designers rather than converted from screen colours.
The match will be very close, but moulded plastic has a different surface character from ink on paper, so a slight variation against printed material is normal and applies to Pantone reproduction on any plastic product. Your proof states the exact PMS reference being used, so the target colour is defined by number before production begins.
Not fully. Metallic references (the 871-877 series), fluorescents and some very pale tints depend on ink properties that pigmented plastic cannot reproduce. We can usually achieve a close approximation, and for metallic finishes an engraved metal-bodied drive is often the better route - we will advise honestly at the quote stage.
The moulded plastic body. On two-part drives such as the Twister and Twister Duo, the body is matched and the metal swivel clip remains standard, which provides a natural contrast area for the printed logo. Wooden, leather and metal drives are not eligible, as their material finish is the point of those styles.
