Branded USB Drives for Music, Film and Media Projects
USB Makers supplies branded and pre-loaded USB drives to record labels, artists, film and TV production companies, publishers and media agencies. Album releases, press kits, showreels, tour merchandise and crew gifts, with capacity and playback checked before we manufacture.
Ten products below, led by the cassette-style USB drive built for physical music releases, are matched to six common projects. Tell us what the content is and where it stands (cleared, still clearing or embargoed) and we will route it the right way.
Before you order: make sure you hold the rights to the content, artwork, characters and marks you supply (see the copyright section below). Do not send unreleased or embargoed files through a public form, and test a sample on the devices your audience will use.
At a Glance: The Short Version
The essentials for ordering USB drives for a release, production or campaign.
Branded and pre-loaded USB drives for music releases, press kits, film and TV publicity, media campaigns, tours and launches.
Sector formats: cassette-style drives, credit-card press kits, custom shapes, wristbands, wood and metal editions.
Cleared content goes straight to production. Embargoed or reviewer-only material is arranged directly with us, never through a public upload.
Capacity is sized to your content: total size, largest single file, file system and the devices it will play on.
Pre-loading from your master is included up to 500MB as standard, with optional data locking (this is not copy protection).
Captioned, audio-described and language versions are loaded from the tested files you supply.
Free visual proofs of your artwork on the product before manufacture, for every version.
Availability, minimum quantities and timings vary by style and are confirmed with your quote.
Which Part of the Industry Are You Buying For?
Music, screen and media teams buy the same products for different jobs. Pick your route or keep reading.
Check the Rights and Release Status Before You Compare Products
Where your content stands decides how we handle it, so tell us at enquiry. Final, cleared and approved for its audience: we quote, proof and pre-load as standard. Rights or artwork still clearing: we advise on product, quantities and timing now and load nothing until you confirm clearance.
Pre-release, embargoed, reviewer-only or confidential: contact us directly before uploading anything anywhere. Recipients, quantities, embargo dates, transfer, retention and deletion are agreed in writing first. Raw footage, camera originals, production masters, DCPs, broadcast deliverables and archives sit outside this promotional service.
Why Media Product Selection Is Different
A promotional USB order becomes a media product the moment real content goes on the drive. Four things then matter: whether you can reproduce and distribute it, whether capacity and format suit the content and its devices, who is receiving it (press, fans, clients, crew or retail buyers), and which release date or press cycle the schedule has to hit.
Answer those four and the product choice is usually obvious. Send us a short brief without any sensitive files and we will do the rest.
What Are You Planning?
Music releases and artist packs. Albums, EPs, live recordings and podcast series on a physical format fans keep.
Press, reviewer and media kits. Electronic press kits, approved trailers, stills and campaign assets for journalists.
Campaign launches and showreels. Agency showreels, product launches, partner packs and client handovers.
Tour, festival and event merchandise. Branded drives and wearable styles for tours, festivals and premieres.
Cast, crew and client recognition. Wrap gifts, session mementos and campaign thank-yous.
Packaging, kitting and non-storage extras. Presentation packaging, multi-item kits and branded tech that stores nothing.

Music & Audio
USB music releases give fans a physical product they keep and carry the full album, artwork and extras in one place. The cassette-style drive is the natural fit; wood, metal and custom shapes suit boutique and flagship editions. We pre-load from your master, proof each edition and can label the drive with the release name. Selling to the public? Check product licensing with your label, distributor or PRS for Music first; it is separate from public-performance licensing.
Film, TV & Production
USB press kits for film and TV carry approved trailers, key art, stills, production notes and finished EPKs. Reviewer screeners and embargoed material are arranged directly with us, with recipients, dates and transfer agreed before production. Dailies, camera originals, DCPs and broadcast masters are out of scope. Packaged video sold to the public usually needs a BBFC age rating; ask your distributor. Press cycles run early, so tell us the date you need drives in hand, not the premiere date.
Media, Publishing & Creative Campaigns
Media kits, launch packs and showreels on branded USB drives are built around a moment: an issue launch, a rebrand, a showreel season or a client handover. Credit-card drives and custom shapes carry the story; packaging and kitting land it in one opening. Embargoed announcements and unpublished editorial are handled directly, not through a public form. Where a games or entertainment property is involved, the owner’s approval process decides what goes on the product.
Copyright, Artwork, Performers and Likeness
You need the rights to reproduce and distribute everything on the drive and its packaging: recordings, compositions, performances, footage, photography, artwork, fonts, sponsor marks, character designs and the likeness of anyone pictured. A licence to stream or publish online does not automatically cover a thousand physical copies, so check that yours does. Send any credits or licensing notices with the artwork and we proof them exactly as supplied. We do not generate anyone’s image, voice or likeness by artificial means.
Unreleased, Embargoed and Confidential Content
Pre-release music, reviewer screeners, awards material and unannounced campaigns need a direct conversation before anything is uploaded. Be clear about what a USB drive cannot do: it cannot enforce an embargo, encryption is not digital rights management, and file locking is not copy protection. An authorised recipient can still copy files.
Contact us first. We agree recipients, quantities, embargo dates, transfer route, retention and deletion in writing, keep identifying detail out of public forms, and follow any requirements your legal or security advisers set. If copying is unacceptable, a physical drive is the wrong channel. Standard drives ship with no autorun software.
Capacity, Formats and the Devices That Will Play Your Content
USB capacity for an album or a film comes from the content: the total size of the final assets plus the largest single file. Usable space sits slightly below the stated figure once formatted, and some older file systems cap single-file size, which matters for feature-length video far more than for audio. File system, folder structure and naming are agreed at quotation.
Playback varies by device. Laptops, phones, smart TVs, car systems and venue equipment support different connectors, file systems, codecs and subtitle formats. Decide which devices matter, supply final files and test an approved sample before the full run. Drives are supplied with USB 2.0 as the certified standard and USB 3.0 on request; this is an interface specification, not a promised transfer speed.
Accessible Media and Language Versions
Captioned, audio-described and multi-language editions on USB drives widen the audience for the same release, so plan them before the content is frozen. Captions, audio description, transcripts, BSL versions and language editions all sit alongside the main content. We load the tested, approved versions you supply and organise them so recipients can find them; we do not create or certify accessible content. Keep an online route for anyone who cannot use the drive.
Services for Media Orders
Free visual proofs. Approved artwork shown on the product before manufacture, one proof per version or edition, with revisions.
Content pre-loading. Content loaded from your supplied master, up to 500MB as standard, with optional data locking and labelled volumes.
Pantone colour matching. Drive shells matched to album, campaign or brand colours on eligible styles.
Artwork guidance. The file formats our studio needs so approvals and the schedule stay on track.
Express production. Selected styles printed and despatched in under 24 hours; eligibility and cut-offs confirmed at quotation.
International delivery. Tours, territories and international press lists, with customs and battery restrictions explained before you order.
How Pre-Loading Works
Send one final master exactly as recipients should see it: folder structure, file names, artwork and any credit or licensing notices. We load every drive from it, with up to 500MB included as standard and larger loads quoted. Optional data locking stops files being casually deleted or altered, and the volume label can carry your release name. Sign off a sample before the full run ships, and keep your originals.
Selling to the Public: Retail and Collector Editions
USB editions sold to fans or through shops are a different product in law from a press drive. Confirm three things first: the right to sell the content, product licensing where it contains music, and a BBFC age rating where it contains video (your distributor decides, not us). Barcodes, consumer information, VAT and returns obligations follow. Tell us at enquiry that the edition is for sale, and only call it “limited” if the quantity really is.
Packaging, Presentation and Kitting
USB packaging turns a drive into a release, and a kitted box lands a launch in one opening. We quote wallets, boxes, tins, printed inserts and assembly alongside the drives, with selected packaging options from 5 units, so one order arrives finished. Packaging artwork is proofed per edition with the drive. Reduced and recyclable options are available.
Quantities and Budgets That Match the Audience
Order the quantity that matches the audience you can reach: the confirmed press list, realistic tour attendance, the fan-club run or the client roster, plus a small contingency. Ask for several quantity breaks and the total delivered cost including VAT in one quote. Quoting editions and territories as variants of one order usually beats separate orders. Pre-loaded content dates, so order what the campaign needs and reorder when demand proves itself.
Release Dates, Embargoes and Working Backwards
Media deadlines are public: a release date, a premiere, an issue date. Work back from the date you need drives in hand, usually weeks before the public date for press, through delivery, production, pre-loading, sample approval and proofs to rights clearance, the step most likely to move. Editions, packaging, kitting and international delivery each add time. Express production on selected styles is a safety net, not a plan, subject to stock, quantity, branding method and destination, with cut-offs confirmed at quotation. Give us both dates at enquiry.
Delivery to Offices, Venues, Tours and Territories
Deliveries to labels, agencies, venues and tours often need more than one address. Split deliveries, quantities per venue, mailing-house handovers and international legs are agreed in the quote, with labelled cartons per destination where confirmed. Venue deliveries depend on the venue’s own receiving arrangements, so confirm them early. Customs and battery restrictions for overseas orders are on our international delivery page.
From Cleared Content to Delivered Order
Tell us about the content. What it is, who it is for and whether it is cleared, still clearing or embargoed.
Compare and specify. Products, capacities, packaging and quantities, with a written quote per edition.
Approve artwork proofs. Free visual proofs per version, with credits and notices exactly as supplied.
Approve the content sample. Final master loaded, sample checked on the devices that matter, sign-off recorded.
Production and delivery. Manufacture, pre-loading, quality checks, kitting and delivery to the agreed schedule.
Evidence, Not Badges
Product documentation, including specifications, conformity and battery paperwork where applicable, is available on request for the exact product you are buying. We name standards only where product-level evidence exists, and we make no claims about copy protection, fidelity or playback that a USB product cannot keep. Environmental claims work the same way.
Responsible Choices in a Content Business
We decline orders for content the buyer cannot show they have the right to distribute, products that imitate tickets, passes or credentials, drives carrying someone else’s catalogue, and unlawful content of any kind. Camera originals, masters and archives belong with specialist services and we will point you to them. And if a web link would serve your audience better than a drive, we will say so before you spend the budget.
Why Music, Film and Media Teams Work With USB Makers
Content routed correctly from the first conversation. Cleared, pending, confidential and out-of-scope material each handled the right way.
Formats built for the sector. Cassette-style releases, press-kit cards, custom shapes, wood and metal editions.
Pre-loading from your supplied master. Up to 500MB as standard, with data locking, labelled volumes and no autorun.
Capacity, file-system and device guidance. With sample testing before full runs.
Free visual proofs per edition. Pantone matching on eligible styles, with packaging and kitting quoted in the same order.
Clear about what USB drives cannot do. No copy-protection, playback or fidelity promises.
Help & Support
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Send the final master and approved artwork and we manufacture, pre-load and package the release, with a visual proof for each edition. You confirm the rights before production starts.
Possibly. Physical music products sold to the public may need product licensing, for example through PRS for Music's audio-product schemes, which is separate from public-performance licensing. Your label, distributor or rights adviser will confirm what applies.
Yes. Credit-card, cassette-style and custom-shaped drives carry approved trailers, stills, notes and biographies, with packaging and kitting quoted alongside. Tell us the date you need them in hand for the press cycle.
Yes, by direct arrangement. Contact us before uploading anything anywhere; recipients, quantities, embargo dates, transfer, retention and deletion are agreed in writing first. Never send confidential files or download links through a public form.
No. Encryption protects a lost drive from casual access and file locking prevents accidental deletion, but neither is copy protection. No USB product stops an authorised recipient sharing files.
It depends on the total content size and the largest single file. Long-form video needs far more space than audio, and some older file systems cap single-file size. Send the content details and we will confirm capacity and structure with your quote.
Yes. We load the tested, approved versions you supply and organise them clearly on the drive. We do not create or certify accessible content, and some adaptations need their own clearances.
No. It is a USB drive styled as a cassette, with printable label faces on both sides. It is a physical format for releases and campaigns, not a playable tape.
Yes, once three things are confirmed: the right to sell the content, product licensing for music, and an age classification for packaged video sold to the public. Barcodes, consumer information and VAT treatment follow. Tell us at enquiry that the edition is for sale.
Who you are buying for, the content type and whether it is cleared, quantities, capacity or content size, the date you need drives in hand, editions, packaging and delivery destinations. Do not include unreleased files, links or passwords; a short brief is enough to begin.
